The Marble Rock Journal is published monthly and distributed free-of-charge to approximately 310 homes with a Marble Rock zip code (50653). Another 30-40 people pickup copies at the bank or Stop-N-Shop. Currently 20 more people outside our zip code subscribe to the Journal. If you would like to purchase a subscription through the mail, the cost is $12.00 per year. Send your check to the Editor, Beverly Fisher, Marble Rock Journal, PO Box 309, Marble Rock, IA 50653 or e-mail at themarblerockjournalATyahoo.com (use @ in place of AT). If you would like to place a "Thank You" or an advertisement in the Journal, the cost may be determine by clicking on "Rates". There is no charge for general announcements for community service or non-profit organizations. An example of this would be the Red Cross Blood Drive. The Journal reserves the to refuse any advertisement. Charges for fund-raising display advertisements for soup suppers, bazaars, card parties, salad luncheons, etc. will be by the column inch as shown. Please be sure to specify the size of your advertisement. If you have any questions about the cost or design of a layout, please contact the Editor. The Journal has no paid employees and is a non-profit publication. All funds raised are used for postage and other operating expenses. The Journal is printed for local distribution on legal size paper. When we reduce it to 8-1/2 x 11 and change the pages to PDF format, some of the headings and boxes are not attached to the copy on the same page or column. This is not easily correctable as it looks right on our screen, and it is a trial and error situation to correct. We hope you understand. There has been a question why advertising and some graphics that are in the printed version do not appear online. There are two basic reasons: (1) Some advertising is done as a paste-up and is not an electronic file we can use. If a display ad is embedded within the written electronic file copy, it generally appears. (2) We attempt to keep the file size as small as possible so that it can be opened without a long wait for dial-up internet users. Any graphics file such as an Easter Bunny or Christmas Tree are a real problem especially since they are large files and often appear multiple times. To view the current month's Journal or five of the other most current months, click on the month you choose. Note: The Journal files are searchable by using the "Find" Acrobat Reader function. Since the file is quite large, it could take 1-2 minutes for Acrobat Reader to open. Please be patient. If the file did not open, you probably do not have Acrobat Reader and you will need this software on your computer. The good news is that it is free and may be installed by clicking on the following reference. http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html Revised 07.01.10 |
