CEMETERIES

Marble Rock is served by three cemeteries:

Hillside Cemetery is situated on the south side of town. Follow Main Street. Burials were made as early as 1861. The Cemetery Association was formed in 1893. Initially each lot owner was responsible for the care until the time annual dues for the purpose were established.

St. Mary’s Cemetery located near the Catholic Church. Go east out of town until you junction with Highway 14, then north three miles. The cemetery was established in 1881.

Westside Cemetery located west across the river and then south. The earliest stone indicates a death of Marion Ackley January 9, 1861.

If you are interested in a copy of the burial records, they are included on the CD "Marble Rock and The People". Click on the "CDs" Page.

The burial records from these cemeteries may also be found on the "Floyd County Genealogy Web Project" Page. Use the address: www.rootsweb.com/~iafloyd/.
